Speech

Speech is very different from writing. Most people when they write, do so grammatically: their language is grammatically correct. A good piece of writing develops an argument or a point of view (or a story, etc.) speech does not follow such rules as we do in writing.
When people speak they do a number of thing. In the first place they usually say too much! They sy the same thing in a number of different ways. They are just repeating what they said. For example, a nervous person might ask someone to dinner by saying:
The massage is an invitation to dinner.
The listener has to work out what the massage is. The listener has only to listen to the main massage and leave out the rest.
